A growing list of brands to avoid because they are “actively engaged in the enshittification playbook” (many post-acquisition by private equity), including Dr. Martens, Pyrex, Hoka, rag & bone, Ray-Ban, Black+Decker, Hunter Boot, Craftsmen, and more.

Nothing worse than spending a lot for a premium brand hoping it's an investment that will last, but it ends up falling apart in a couple years. I'd almost prefer a list of GOOD brands that are still stand-alone operations maintaining their good reputation over a list of who to avoid, but this is better than no list.
I have an Eddie Bauer jacket I bought when my kids were little for $60-$80 and I wore it most days Nov. thru March. My kids are 23 now and I wore that jacket to work today. Best jacket I've ever owned. I had to have the zipper replaced but otherwise it's been great. I don't know where Eddie Bauer sits now as far as quality is concerned but it was good back then.
You can also filter them by "Approved" which indicates the brand demonstrates quality, ownership and stewardship. They also have a list of those that are slipping and "former greats." Looks like Eddie Bauer is Avoid.
They keep lists of "approved", "watchlist", and "former great" brands too! https://ledger.worseonpurpose.com/brands?status=approved
Nice! Thanks for pointing that out
