The first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew. I love Gerwig and I know this will be good, but I’m cautiously optimistic that it will be great. (I still forever have “Chronicwhatcles of Narnia” stuck in my head tho…)

And just like that, it's stuck in my head...
I finally got around to watching the trailer. Wow! James Bond, Led Zep soundtrack... I'm not a big fantasy lover but when they get it right, what's not to love?
Oh how I need an escape like this. I am, as the kids say, sat.
Am I reading too much into this because the trailer features Daniel Craig, he of the maligned Golden Compass adaptation, based on the His Dark Materials trilogy that was a direct refutation of CS Lewis's books, and the song, purportedly about drugs, was described by Robert Plant to actually be about buying salvation instead of earning it? Is it too much internet for the day?
Dang, this is a WILD aesthetic, all the way down to the title card. I was expecting something more traditional like the 2005 adaptation (probably best remembered via "Lazy Sunday") but I should have known better.
Per this article, Gerwig personally showed Robert Plant and Jimmy Page a rough cut of the film to beg them for the rights to "Stairway to Heaven," which they virtually never release.
I'm a lot more hyped after reading this. Thanks for the link!
I have great faith in Greta's writing and vision. This is a project that belongs in the hands of someone like her rather than someone turning it into LOTR 2.0 (as the earlier film adaptations were).
The BBC 90s production is still the gold standard for me!
Best use of Stairway EVER.
