My wife and I got to visit an elephant orphanage in Kenya a couple of years ago, and stand next to the staff as they bottle fed the babies. Then we walked for an hour with the small herd as they browsed through a valley and played. It was magical. There was one little guy there who’d had his trunk chewed off by hyenas and the other young elephants helped him out whenever they could.
Such delightful, fun, inquisitive, heartbreakingly wonderful little creatures.
