Interview with the guy behind the great Art But Make It Sports social accounts. “When he sees a sports photograph, he can recall, off the top of his head, a pose, or a style, or even just a figure or a form, from a painting or a sculpture.”

What I love most about these pairings is how much the work of the original photographer is being elevated and celebrated. And gosh darn it, those frozen moments of modern time are absolutely their own works of art.

From a sports photographer on Threads:

Do I think the site is cool? Yes... Do I think there's a lot of questions out there about ethics and copyright law? Also yes. There's some of us who've been creating images for a quarter of a century, including in women's sports, but in order to keep doing it we can't have our images continually stolen. I’ve been featured by him at least 10 times and have never been asked permission before it’s published. The truth is he’s not the only site that does this, but that doesn’t excuse it either.

10 times?! Okay, that's excessive for sure. And a good point to bring up: it does feel like a "paid with exposure" moment, now that I think about it. Dang it.
