The fake courtesy machine is a wooden hand-cranked contraption that types “I hope this email finds you well” over and over again. Jacquard loom & player piano vibes.

This reminds me of an amazing art experience that I happened upon in Montreal last year.
The Quigital Corporate Retreat is a music / performance art piece by the Architek percussion ensemble and singer Sarah Albu that takes the form of a internal company retreat but is a genius commentary on modern forms of social interaction, hierarchy, and ritual. One of the songs is called “I hope this email finds you well.” If it is ever playing near you it is an unforgettable experience.
