The Crystal Skull

David Altmejd’s 2017 sculpture entitled “God” is one of the most disturbing artworks I’ve seen recently, so naturally I had to show all of you. If you need further wigging out, here you go. Lots more on his website and Instagram.

Oof, these are diabolical. Like HR Giger, somehow made even more visceral through the inclusion of inorganic forms. I can’t look away. Fantastic.
Here's how I know I'm weird. This is not even in the top 100 most disturbing artworks I've seen. It's almost pleasant except for the sharpness of the crystals in the cavity.
Would you maybe share your personal Top Five?
Funny, had the same reaction, but would also like to see your list, as I don't keep one! I read a lot of comics and graphic novels some of which can be disturbing :) I find the DA work I've skimmed an interesting artistic exploration and I've been making vaguely human clay masks for a long time, sporadically. Looking forward to being able to put more time into sculpting and pushing closer to the edge of some visual cliffs!
Found this recently. So amazing it's almost not creepy. https://vimeo.com/645523485?fl=pl&fe=sh
THANK YOU JASON
