I Bought Friendster for $30k — Here’s What I’m Doing With It. “I created an iOS app for Friendster, and I made it so that in order to connect with someone as a friend, you have to actually tap phones together in real life.”

Bummer - most of my friends are spread across the country and I never actually see them. But I want to hear from them and see what they're up to, which was kind of the value prop of social media for me.

You'll just have to FedEx them your phone.

Buy a used iPhone 8 to ship around to all your friends.

Colter, you have the best name I can remember seeing in a long time. I hope you're a writer.

Haven't logged into FB in 5+ years but don't want to close it primarily because of the long distance and international friends that I want to maintain some mental link to (that an old email address or international phone number doesn't provide).

iMessage and Signal are the primary social media platforms I use due to there being no ads or fluff yet would be game if there could be an open source mozilla style platform where i could roll over friends but ditch the meta.
