Well, this blows: FSG has shuttered their MCD imprint & Sean McDonald is leaving the company. MCD published so many good titles/authors: Questlove, Enshittification, Robin Sloan, Jeff VanderMeer, Sloane Crosley, Dilla Time, Tamara Shopsin…

I'm very very sad to hear about the closing of MCD at FSG and that Sean McDonald is in the wind. He was one of the folks who generously gave me amazing advice on my own journey, is a shepherd of brilliant (and very often very Black) books, a wise editor... another hard loss for our flailing industry. May someone scoop him quickly.

I pitched Sean a couple times. I appreciated how excited he would get about ideas that weren't particularly profitable but were quirky and experimental.
