The Human City

Photographer and drone pilot Pio Andrea Peri captured this overhead photo of a Sicilian city called Centuripe. Perched atop hilltops, the city looks like a person from above — even on Google Maps. (via daily overview)

On a trip to Sicily ten years ago, we almost despaired trying to find our way through this incredible place…. We'd been regrettably upgraded at the car rental agency in Catania and found ourselves in a hopelessly oversized (and absolutely spanking new) affair ridiculously still labeled Fiat 500 and were warned against leaving even the slightest blemish on it, or else… So we almost got stuck in some of the tighter lanes we ended up in, while the SatNav lost our position, and pheeew!, the embarassment! But of course we finally made it, and as soon as we found us on the correct exit road, we stopped again to take some deep breaths, look back and take in the incredible scenery. Just mentioning… :)
