Interesting tidbits about Charade: Charade was released in 1963, so one would expect it to still be under copyright protection in 2026. But the filmmakers failed to include a valid copyright notice (the word "copyright" or the symbol "©"), and the law at the time meant that this inadvertently released it into the public domain.
Also, the original film included the line, "At any moment we could be assassinated", but this was considered insensitive in the recent aftermath of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, so it was overdubbed to "At any moment we could be eliminated."
How on earth could "It's A Wonderful Life" from 1946 be in the public domain?
Fun fact! The reason it's such a Christmas class is because it's in the public domain!
"Its copyright in the U.S. expired in 1974 following a lack of renewal and it entered the public domain, allowing it to be broadcast without licensing or royalty fees, at which point it became a Christmas classic."
