The Danish post office will stop delivering mail (but not parcels) at the end of 2025. “Letter volumes have decreased by over 90 percent since 2000”. But over 100 million letters were delivered in 2024…that’s still a tremendous number.

Grandparents will be unhappy.
I have to agree that this is terrible. No wedding invitations, thank-you notes, certified letters to a crooked landlord, Christmas Cards, or little zines slipped in an envelope and winged by post to a reader’s doorstep. Email may replace a lot of the functionality of paper letters—but certainly not all of it. This is the worst of “efficiency” in the digital age: wanton abandonment of what came before.
