Shortlist for the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2025 Competition
In looking over the shortlist for the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2025 competition, I thought about how I’ve seen thousands or even tens of thousands of incredible astronomical images and yet there are always new, mind-blowing things to see. That first image of the solar prominence looks an awful lot like some of the scanning electron micrograph (SEM) images of human egg cells. Its kind of freaky the patterns that nature repeats. https://www.sciencephoto.com/media/312609/view/coloured-sem-of-sperm-on-egg-during-fertilisation
