Looking forward to this. The audiobook is great.
I've been waiting for a serious film adaptation of this book since I read it as a teenager. The tone of the book is dark and dystopian with an intelligent but desperate protagonist — more like The Fugitive meets the Hunger Games than the cheesy comic-book action movies vibes of the Arnold Schwarzenegger version.
The original movie is a bit of a miss and so a re-make isn't anything anyone needs - but a remake by Edgar Wright? Sign me up!

That gives it a certain mojo right off the bat.
King’s Bachman books are all pretty good and several have turned into incredible movies (Stand By Me, The Shawshank Redemption). I hope this one lives up those two.

Seems like the obvious choice for show host would have been Steve Harvey.
This trailer is completely and 100% missing the tone of the book. Any humor in that book is extremely dark. This looks like a real missed opportunity to make a more meaningful movie. Granted, it would be unlikely to be a summer blockbuster, but this looks awful.
