Chris Ware Creates Stamps For USPS

Graphic artist Chris Ware has created a set of 20 stamps for the US Postal Service’s 250th anniversary in his iconic style.
The pane of 20 interconnected stamps show a bird’s-eye view of a mail carrier’s route through a bustling town. Laid out in 4 rows of 5, the stamps depict the story through the 4 seasons from top-left to bottom-right. The artwork also contains numerous icons representing the Postal Service.
The stamps will be available in July but you can pre-order them now from the USPS Store. (thx, caroline)

A walkable city, too. The only car on the street is the mail truck.
These stamps remind me a bit of this 1973 series that celebrated “postal week.”

Has anything ever been more up my alley? Unlikely.
Last year, Canada Post released a small 4-stamp collection of Canadian graphic novelist stamps: Canada Post
Is there any significance to the crossed-out “forever” on the Chris Ware stamps? Is it just to make them harder to copy?
Yep, any digital image (even those on the display boxes in the post office) have a crossed out Forever (or whatever denomination the stamp is in) to show that it is not legal postage tender.
Years ago I posted a new USPS stamp and used an image that had the "Forever" crossed out. I got an angry social media reply from someone with a US flag in their username who thought I'd crossed out the "Forever" to make an unpatriotic point about America's longevity or something? She was big mad and I think about her every time I see a forever stamp.
Oh a love these. I bought one to use and one to frame. My grandmother worked for 25 years in the PO. 💌
