Don’t mind me, I’m just watching old episodes of The Great Space Coaster on YouTube (Does anyone else remember this show? I watched it as a kid along with 3-2-1 Contact, Captain Kangaroo, H.R. Pufnstuf, The Bugaloos, etc.)

Heck yeah. I had to show my kid No Gnews is Good Gnews, with Gary Gnu a few months ago. That please has lived in my head for... 45 years?
Beat me to it.
Gary Gnews still cracks me up!
Yes! I remember saying this very quote and no one would remember it, which after many times, started making me wonder if I imagined it.
Absolutely remember it, and this song about "Mean" Joe Green has lived rent free in my head since it was broadcast in 1980. I had to have seen it rerun a few times for it to have imprinted so deeply. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMugnTspS2c
Haha. As soon as I read the headline, I started singing the theme song.
I’m pretty sure I sat through 3-2-1 Contact solely for Bloodhound Gang content. I think I could write synopses of their episodes from memory but my fave was the one where the perp used a model train to make it appear as if people were moving about their house.
Check out The Inbestigators on Netflix. It’s made for kids (which is how I started watching it with my kids) but it’s quite enjoyable as just a wholesome kid detective TV show. Also it’s pretty funny.
If I could get up early enough I could watch the first half until we had to leave for school, so I was rarely able to see the second half. Imagine that. 🤣

This is the name that'll be displayed next to comments you make on kottke.org; your email will not be displayed publicly. I'd encourage you to use your real name (or at least your first name and last initial) but you can also pick something that you go by when you participate in communities online. Choose something durable and reasonably unique (not "Me" or "anon"). Please don't change this often. No impersonation.
Note: I'm letting folks change their display names because the membership service that kottke.org uses collects full names and I thought some people might not want their names displayed publicly here. If it gets abused, I might disable this feature.
If you feel like this comment goes against the grain of the community guidelines or is otherwise inappropriate, please let me know and I will take a look at it.
