The NYT Games app is saying it’s the 2,500th Spelling Bee, so maybe cause for a break from tradition? 🤷♂️
I miss The Times' puzzles, but I cut that off when they refused to endorse during the election campaign. :-(

I know it says *something* about me that I've had dreams where I'm playing spelling bee and it had the letter S.
Couldn't believe it when I started and saw the "S"...then I thought, Oh no, there will be a dozen pangrams and HUNDREDS of words with plurals. So it was great that editor Sam Ezersky controlled it to a typical number of solutions.
Same! The word DIABOLICAL came to mind, and then I started playing...
