Reminds me of this passage from Burkeman's "Meditations for Mortals": "All else aside, the fact that you felt the desire in the first place suggests that you already possessed the values you were chastising yourself for lacking; only someone with morals can beat themselves up for lacking morals."
The advice her boss gave her really resonated with me today, as I contemplate accepting a new job: “Be careful what you’re good at, you’re going to get stuck doing that.”
