I hate to be negative but this is so infuriating. I worked in the non-profit performing arts field during that time and so many of my colleagues were laid off or furloughed.
I was one of a lucky few at my organization who was kept on, but about ¾ of our staff was indefinitely furloughed and many left the industry entirely and never returned. I also eventually left in December of 2020 for a completely different field as it was impossible to feel that local performing arts work was valued. What a vile waste of relief funding.
It seems clear that these folks were told they had this opportunity by accountants/etc. So infuriating.
