This piece calls the disease "respiratory in nature", which does not necessarily mean airborne. Stay tuned, I guess.
Update: Disease X has now infected 416 with 135 deaths.
Apparently it is significantly more challenging to collect and transport samples than they were anticipating, but there is a small update:

There's not a lot of other information yet, but if I had to guess, if it's malaria, that means it is not an airborne disease.
