Has there ever been a bigger loss in sports—the realized accomplishments that gave you a glimpse at his unrealized potential? It would be like losing Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt at the precipice of their greatness, or Michael Jordan or Tom Brady after winning their first titles. What a tragedy for his family, friends, his nation, and the running community.
Sammy Wanjiru tragically passed at the same age, he had won Olympic gold and also had success at world marathon majors.
