Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
I’m still catching up from being blissfully away from the internet in December so apologies to those of you for which this is old news, but Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga looks %$&*#@ good. My expectations for this film couldn’t be any higher — Fury Road was one of my favorite films of the past 10 years. Crucially, the Furiosa production team includes editor Margaret Sixel and several other folks who won awards for Fury Road — that’s a great sign.

So, Thor brought his cape to Australia… Funny, right?
Seriously: I wanna see this in a cinema (or on a Vision Pro).
I want to believe. Despite developing an aversion to the casual violence and cruelty of action movies as I've aged, I recently rewatched Fury Road and...it's still absolutely spectacular. Possibly my favorite movie ever (my 13 year old self choosing "The Crow" and my 18 year old self choosing "Fight Club" would probably agree too). My fear is that this looks "Marvelized." Why are we so obsessed with origin stories these days? Why is that always the direction? I would have loved to watch Cherize Theron as an aging Furiosa struggling to hold the Citadel together. But, fingers crossed. I want to believe, George!
Watching this again I'm struck by how Immortan Joe could be cast as a saviour here, saving young Furiosa from evil Thor. Initially at least, and definitely to serve his agenda, which promises some chewy storytelling. She was, of course, one of his trusted leaders before she betrayed him in Fury Road...
