Here’s why we like, really like, repetition in music.

Pop music songs have become increasingly repetitive in recent years โ€” think Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off, Beyonce’s 7/11 or Formation, and just about anything by Rihanna โ€” and there’s a good reason for this: we like repetition. When people repeat words, it stops sounding like speaking and starts sounding like singing. Lyrical repetition makes songs sound more musical.
