Even weirder, allspice is most prominently used in Jamaican cuisine. But in Jamaica they call it "pimento". It has nothing to do with what the pepper we call "pimento" in the US.
It's called pimienta gorda in Spanish (at least in Mexico and Central America). Took me a while to realize that Allspice was the same thing!
