I'm glad Macarthur still exists. The sad part is that there are still so many academics still toiling through, who haven't made it to the Macarthur level of acknowledgement, who are still doing amazing work, and finding all their funding cut. And there's no real replacement in the U.S. for the NEH or NEA or all the university grants that they're now afraid to give to real research because there could be a media backlash.
