The Bayeux Tapestry is returning to the UK for the first time in more than 900 years. “The huge embroidery - which is widely believed to have been created in Kent - will go on display at the British Museum in London next year.”

Am in Bayeux right now getting ready for a D-Day tour and visited the tapestry museum yesterday. Quite coincidental that I'm here right after the British Museum announcement, three days after the Tour de France passed through, and on Bastille Day. Went to see it without any real expectations (and with my reluctant family members in tow). We were blown away. It's simply an amazing work. The story and it's presentation through the tapestry medium is exceptional. It's a must-see if you have the opportunity. The audio guide is great -- I hope that the same is offered while on loan to the British Museum.
