These “containment cages” used in Texas prison are inhumane — standing-room only cages that prisoners are kept in for days at a time. “Solitary confinement itself was horrific, but these containment cages were catastrophic.”

Holy crap 😫
I really think the root of a lot of what's wrong with America today comes from our prisons. If we're OK with treating our own people like this because they've done something wrong (and not to say they haven't, some have done horrible things), then it's a really small jump to othering and mistreating pretty much anyone else for any reason real or imagined.
