E-bike subsidies should be more widespread, following the lead of Colorado ($450 back on a bike purchase). “More than half of all trips taken by Americans are less than three miles. E-bikes open up these kinds of trips to a greater diversity of cyclists.”

Minnesota is launching an e-bike tax rebate program starting July 1st, which I’m pretty excited about. It’ll give a 50–75% rebate, depending on income level, up to $1,500.
The program’s budget is $2 million though, so it’ll be interesting to see how quickly it might run out.

Here in Texas, the roads are very e-bike and pedestrian unfriendly, at least in the Dallas metropolitan areas. Super wide roads with 3 lanes each way, even next to schools (!), little or no protected bike paths, giant SUVs everywhere, suburbs zoned away from shopping areas so you have to drive instead of walk or bike, and an increasing number of drivers crossing red lights long after the signal has turned green for cross traffic and vehicles are already moving. It’s a mess. 😩
Stroads, they make everything feel like a highway and are dangerous
It's pretty impressive in Denver how much impact this has had. E-bikes seem to be everywhere and it's rare to not see one zipping by when you're in town. Really encouraging to see how much impact these types of EVs are having!
