I think men should absolutely be writing about their IVF experiences but I found this essay to be so abstract and seemingly so barely familiar with the impact of the Alabama ruling as to be somehow from another time and place than the world we're inhabiting currently. Aside from one scant reference to the ruling, this could have been written a decade (or more) ago.

This one hit me where it still hurts

We went through IVF after having trouble conceiving a second child and realizing the genetic benefits - our first child was born with a genetic disorder that we were all but 99% assured would not develop in our second child. The process felt a little foreign at first, but once we were in it, I was hard not to wonder at how incredible and advanced the medical world has become.

With regard to the ruling in Alabama, it just shows how backwards and tied to ideological nothingness our political system has become. IVF can save other children from preventable medical issues, and on that fact alone it should be a cherished and common process. At it's current cost, it is unatainable to many, that should not be the case. Instead of fighting against incredible medical breakthroughs, we should be focused on how to improve them and make them more widespread.

This is such a fascinating essay to me because it's not like his wife is anonymous. She is a prominent podcast host and something of a public figure.

(FWIW My wife and I did go through fertility treatments, though we did not do IVF, so I found myself grateful that he wrote this.)
